Fist pass TRÅDFRI MQTT Bridge

I’ve been working on integrating the new IKEA TRÅDFRI Lights into my Home Automation system. I’d really like a native NodeJS system so I can plug it directly into Node-RED, but I’ve not found a working CoAP over DTLS setup just yet.

So in the mean time I’ve been working on a very basic MQTT to CoAP client bridge in Java using the Eclipse Californium library.

It still needs some work, but here is the first pass:

I’ve tagged the code onto the gist as well for now, but I’ll check the whole thing in as a separate project soon.

    would or could you also release a complete binary beside the source code releases?

    1. I’m still trying to get Maven to build a release binary, it’s not working properly at the moment. Also the Californium dependency is only available as src. I’ll see if I can zip up the jar and the deps and tag it onto the 0.0.4 tagged release

  2. Hi Ben,

    Great work on the MQTT broker for the IKEA Trådfri. I’ve been trying it out today and it works very well. I’ve wrapped your 0.0.4 version into a docker container to make it easier to deploy to my unRAID server. Currently its in a private repository but I’ll make it public (and make a corresponding unRAID docker template) if you are happy for me to do so. It’s my first attempt at a docker and it probably needs a little more attention to make it easier to maintain.

    Like you, I’m hoping at some point that there will be Node-RED node so that I don’t need to run a separate bridge process. Happy to help if I can.

    1. If you want to raise a pull request against the git project to add the Docker file then it’s all in one place that would be great.

      I’ll run up a Node-RED modules just as soon as I can find a working CoAP over DTLS node, the one I’ve found doesn’t work with PSK security and I’ve not had any feed back from the author.
